The Competence Centre for Medical Robotics is an interface between industry, research and clinical cooperation partners. In addition to comprehensive expertise in the entire spectrum of robotics, the innovation lab offers companies the opportunity to quickly prototype and evaluate complex applications on the specially developed and technically mature MIRO research platform. Whether long-term strategic development partnerships from the initial idea to the market-ready product or short-term support over large parts of the product development process: the interdisciplinary team offers solutions with a high level of technological maturity and support for seamless technology transfer. With the help of a wide-ranging network of clinics, science and industry, preclinical studies and user tests are also possible so that innovations can be put into practice more quickly.
Detailed information about the MIRO Innovation Lab, our current research topics and offers can always be found on the Lab's website.
User console of the MiroSurge system
The operator telemanipulates the MiroSurge system from a user console by means of a 3D-display and two haptic input devices. The open structure of the user console preserves the contact to the processes at the operating room table.
Robotic waterjet surgery using the MiroSurge system
The MiroSurge system is versatile: based on the MIRO robotic arm, a system was developed for robotic wound irrigation using a water jet. For this purpose, a robotic instrument with an integrated water jet applicator was constructed, which the surgeon can attach to the MIRO robotic arm. The picture shows a test of wound washing using a water jet on a silicone phantom.
