Data fusion techniques in spaceInFuse
In the framework of InFuse project, a 6-organizations consortium developed solutions for data fusion techniques in space context, in structured and unstructured environment, in on-orbit servicing scenarios and planetary exploration scenarios. This was a part of larger effort by EU and EC, a part of Horizon 2020 initiative, and a part of Strategic Resource Cluster called PerAspera.

Projectdetails
In the framework of InFuse project, a 6-organizations consortium developed solutions for data fusion techniques in space context, in structured and unstructured environment, in on-orbit servicing scenarios and planetary exploration scenarios. This was a part of larger effort by EU and EC, a part of Horizon 2020 initiative, and a part of Strategic Resource Cluster called PerAspera. Over the duration of 27 months, we performed sensor study, did a research on possible ways of data fusion, implemented a joint solution for sensor data processing and fusion, and successfully demonstrated this in two test campaigns, one for On-orbit Servicing domain in DLR-RM OOS-SIM lab and one for Planetary exploration domain in DLR-RM PEL lab and during a field test in Morocco in 2018. InFuse was an awarded Operational Grant 03, a part of larger scheme of operational grants which were being co-developed in parallel. Other OGs were:
- OG1 European Space Robot Control Operating System: ESROCOS,
- OG2 European Robotic Goal-Oriented Autonomous Controller: ERGO,
- OG4 Integrated 3d Sensors: I3DS,
- OG5 Standard Interface for Robotic Manipulation of Payloads in Future Space Missions: SIROM,
- OG6 Facilities for testing orbital and surface robotics building blocks: FACILITATORS.
