Personalised passenger information

Mobile phones are ideal for supporting travellers with personalised information in real time.
  • At InnoTrans 2024 the Institute of Transport Systems is presenting the exhibit "personalised passenger information".
  • The researchers will demonstrate how travellers can be supported with personalised information to make the journey easier.
  • Focus: Digitalisation, travel chains, hubs

The exhibit "personalised passenger information" at InnoTrans 2024 visualises the possibilities that digitalisation offers travellers. Instead of displaying all available means of transport on a common departure board, travellers are only shown the information that is relevant to their journey.

To do this, the planned itinerary must be digitally available, which is ensured by the concept of the passenger trajectory. A passenger trajectory is the planned sequence of means of transport and the access, transfer and departure stops to complete a journey. It can also contain additional information, for example about the purpose of the journey and the traveller's preferences.

The information is displayed in a personalised way and linked to the travel context. The display appears as an augmented reality overlay on the traveler’s smartphone when looking at the conventional departure board.

The research into the personalised passenger information is also currently being registered as a patent.

You will find this exhibit and many research projects from the rail sector at the InnoTrans from 24 to 27 September 2024 in Berlin (Hall 2.2, Stand 440).
