From overall design to certification strategic field

The ability to comprehensively simulate and certify components and technologies and integrate them into the overall aircraft is one of DLR's strategic goals.
The demands are high, as the multidisciplinary research path must integrate various subject areas and take into account the entire life cycle including production, maintenance, repair and operation from the outset.
Our institute actively supports this strategic goal with a strategic field in which lightweight system design is researched from the overall design of the aircraft through to its certification. With its core competences, it provides new methods and tools for efficient structural development and evaluation, for example in the Virtual Product House (VPH) in Bremen.
