Project details

Robotics-enabled Logistics and Assistive Services for the Transformable Factory of the Future (TAPAS) is an EU project in the Seventh Framework Program. The goal of TAPAS is to lay the groundwork for a new generation of transformable solutions for automation and logistics for small and large series production that is independent of volume or product type changes. TAPAS validates key components to realize this vision: Mobile robots with manipulators will flexibly automate and complete logistics tasks and go beyond mere transport. The TAPAS robots will also go further and create added value in which the systems automate assistance functions by, for example, performing assembly steps and quality control. Although the robots from the TAPAS project may be more expensive to purchase, their higher added value, greater adaptability and robustness, as well as the completeness of the solution, promise earlier amortization.
