Minister of State Markus Blume visits the EDAN care assistance system at the Festival of the Future

Artificial intelligence, ClimateTech, LifeSciences, robotics, New Space and other future topics were the focus of the Deutsches Museum's second Festival of the Future. From 27 to 30 June 2024, lectures and discussions as well as workshops, pitches, exhibitions and numerous hands-on activities on science, business, culture and AI took place on over 1000 square metres in the Munich Planetarium. In addition to expert presentations, the Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics also exhibited the robotic care assistance system EDAN. Institute Director Prof. Alin Albu-Schäffer gave a keynote speech on key advances and future challenges in robotics development and took part in the panel discussion on robotics and demographic change on Friday, 28 June.

During a tour at the opening of the festival on 27 June, the Bavarian Minister of State for Science and the Arts, Markus Blume, was very impressed by the development of the EDAN care assistance system. On 28 June, Dr Fabian Mehring, the Minister of State for Digitalisation, also visibly enjoyed interacting with the robotic system. Information on other highlights of the festival can be found in the programme.
