TORO at the cabinet meeting of the Bavarian state government in St. Quirin
The cabinet meeting on July 20, 2015 in St. Quirin on Lake Tegernsee focused on the BAYERN DIGITAL work program.
As part of a technological exhibition organized solely for the meeting, TORO (TOrque controlled humanoid RObot) – a flagship in robotic research – was able to put its capabilities to the test and delighted Minister of Economics Ilse Aigner and Minister-President Horst Seehofer as well as other cabinet members. A tele-operator controlled the robot’s grasp by directly gauging lower arm muscle tension, a technique that is also highly suitable for controlling advanced hand prosthetics.
