Augsburg test field
Route coordination: Kobelweg
As part of the VITAL.NET project, another test field for the VITAL process was set up in Augsburg in mid-2020: Kobelweg. The test field is located in the north-west of the city and extends over a length of approx. 1 kilometre. On this route, the VITAL procedures for route coordination will be implemented at three traffic-signalised junctions and tested in real traffic.
The test track includes the following intersections in detail:
- Kobelweg / Max-von-Laue-Straße / Kurzes Gelände
- Kobelweg / Dr.-Dürrwanger-Straße / Oberer Schleisweg
- Kobelweg / Dayton-Ring (B17)
The existing induction loops will continue to be used for vehicle detection. In addition, further induction loops as well as cameras, radar detectors and magnetic field sensors have been installed. The validation of the procedures should be completed by the first quarter of 2021 at the latest, so that initial results on the effect should be available by then.
