EOC-Earth sculpture highlight of the Graz Sound and Light Festival

From October 25 to 27 the Graz Sound and Light Festival took place for the eighth time. Over 100,000 visitors came from Austria, Germany, Italy, Hungary and Slovenia to see the fifteen sound and light installations produced by international artists. This year the main item exhibited in the castle ruins on the Graz Schlossberg and one of the four items requiring the purchase of a festival admission ticket was an Earth sculpture, EOC’s “Blue Planet”.

1000000 visitors see DLR's Earth Sculpture in Oberhausen Gasometer

18 May 2023 one million visitors, the exhibition "The Fragile Paradise" in the Oberhausen Gasometer is one of the most successful exhibitions in Germany. The highlight of the exhibition is the Earth Sculpture, which EOC staff brought to life with animations based on earth observation data.

The GeoVIS Team of DFD provides satellite images for the UNESCO World Heritage Exposition in Cologne

From Sept. 13th to Oct. 4th, the Cologne cathedral – holding itself the status of a UNESCO world cultural heritage – acts as a background for the joint UNESCO-DLR exhibition “"What a Sight - Space Looking Out for World Heritage". 30 unique satellite images of world heritage sites have been processed by the GeoVIS team of DFD for the exhibition, which was inaugurated on Sept. 13th by the major of Cologne, Mr. Hans-Werner Bartsch and DLR representatives. The images have been shown before in Paris and Brussels.

Satellite images in the art tunnel in Munich

From 2-11 January 2008 the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and Munich's Art Tunnel are presenting an exhibit entitled, "The Earth from Space." From its wealth of satellite data, DLR in Oberpfaffenhofen has selected, processed and arranged for this exhibit 12 images from an aesthetic perspective. The images of Earth are the size of large advertising panels and are located in the public underpass connecting the underground (U-Bahn) lines 4/5 and 3/6 at the Odeonsplatz station.

Exhibition: "Das Auge des Himmels"

Vom 29. März 2007 bis zum 2. Dezember 2007 präsentieren das Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) und die Gasometer Oberhausen GmbH die Ausstellung "Das Auge des Himmels". 58 großformatige Satellitenbilder der Erde und weitere Exponate aus der Erdfernerkundung sind im Gasometer in Oberhausen, der höchsten Ausstellungshalle Europas, zu sehen. Alle Bilder der Ausstellung sind Unikate, die vom DLR und seinen Partnern zur Verfügung gestellt wurden. Die Zusammenstellung der Bilder ist in dieser Form erstmalig zu sehen.

Exhibition Munich: Kunstwerk Erde - Eine Welt voller Überraschungen

Mit der großflächigen Freiluft-Installation "Kunstwerk Erde" setzte die Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft Bilder aus dem All spektakulär in Szene. Vom 16. bis zum 31. Oktober 2002 zeigte sie auf dem Königsplatz in München 20 faszinierende, bis zu zwölf Quadratmeter große Satelliten-Aufnahmen des Heimatplaneten von beeindruckender wissenschaftlicher und vor allem ästhetischer Aussagekraft.
