Two new DLR Senior Scientists at EOC
On June 20, 2024, it was two Earth Observation Center employees, Dr. Monika Gähler and Dr. Tobias Storch, who were formally honoured by the DLR executive board with the title "DLR Senior Scientist" in the context of the Science BBQ in Braunschweig.
Dr. Monika Gähler received an award for her outstanding achievements in the area of earth observation supported analysis and mapping of global natural disasters and humanitarian crises. Dr. Gähler directs the Centre for Satellite-Supported Crisis Information at the German Remote Sensing Data Centre and has been very successful in acquiring and directing numerous (major) projects.
Dr. Tobias Storch received an award for his outstanding achievements in the area of hyperspectral remote sensing. Dr. Storch was responsible as project manager at the Remote Sensing Technology Institute for the ground segment of the hyperspectral mission EnMAP and because of his commitment contributed to transferring the scientific and technological findings to operational earth observation.
Each year DLR confers the title "DLR Senior Scientist" on scientists who have either distinguished themselves in the area of basic research or have earned great merit especially in the area of applications-oriented project work.
