Federal Minister Peter Altmaier visits EOC

A tour of EOC was also on the agenda of the visit of the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), Peter Altmaier, to the DLR research center in Oberpfaffenhofen. Minister Altmaier was keenly interested in DLR's satellite technologies and earth observation research activities.

Professor Stefan Dech, director of the German Remote Sensing Data Center (DFD), presented several examples from the field of satellite earth observation. The focus was on topics relating to monitoring the atmosphere's ozone layer, analysing the data acquired by DLR's TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X satellites, the expansion of aquaculture, and the effects of the dry summer in Germany.
