Road

We are researching technologies that make the transport system more climate-friendly, safer and more liveable. To this end, we are driving forward the digitalisation and automation of road traffic, optimising the flow of traffic and providing all road users with the best possible support for their mobility needs.

Rail

We contribute to making rail transport safe, efficient and competitive and to driving forward the European harmonisation of rail networks. To this end, we develop innovative technologies, methods and concepts for rail in the context of railway automation. We consider the entire railway system in the link between infrastructure - vehicle - operation with people at the centre.

Transport System

We consider the technical and operational aspects of the transport system in their entirety and research their interactions - also with the people who use and operate the system. We support the planning and operation of intermodal systems by developing innovative concepts and approaches for needs- and target group-orientated technological solutions.
