Communication and navigation infrastructure
Various communication and navigation infrastructures are available at the National Test Center, including:
An MLAT system receives ADS-B and FLARM signals and uses them for multilateration and thus for determining the position of aircraft. DLR's own ground stations in the Cochstedt area and in Braunschweig are used to receive data.
The Drone to Anything (D2X) Communication System is a stand-alone drone communication system. It is used for separate position monitoring and drone control. The system uses a special WLAN standard for vehicles and drones. The ground stations have a range of approx. 2 km.
The "UAS Hangar" building is equipped with an indoor GNSS system.
In addition to the airport operating radio, test radio equipment is also available.
Currently under construction is an experimental ground station for testing GBAS approach procedures and an S-band data link for on-board ground communication.
