Green wave for emergency services: 5G Living Lab in the Mobility Region Braunschweig-Wolfsburg
Emergency services have to get to the scene quickly to save lives. In heavy city traffic, a green wave can help them do this. This means that traffic lights switch to green shortly before the emergency vehicle reaches the junction, blocking the traffic crossing at the same time. This also prevents accidents. The technology required for this is being researched using the 5G mobile communications standard in the 5G Living Lab in the Mobility Braunschweig-Wolfsburg under the direction of the German Aerospace Centre (DLR).
