Europe’s Rail Advanced Traffic Management & Control System

Europe’s Rail Advanced Traffic Management & Control System
This video explains the challenges for the rail system of the future and the solutions of the Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking, for example virtually coupled trains for efficient use of the infrastructure, fail-save train positioning as a foundation for automated driving and zero on-site testing to reduce costs and effort when introducing new technologies. Automatic train operations to reduce energy consumption, on board train integrity and cypersecurity are also presented as important research topics.

Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking (EU-Rail) is the European partnership on rail research and innovation established under the Horizon Europe programme (2020-2027) and the universal successor of the Shift2Rail Joint Undertaking. The vision of EU-Rail is to deliver, via an integrated system approach, a high capacity, flexible, multi-modal and reliable integrated European railway network by eliminating barriers to interoperability and providing solutions for full integration, for European citizens and cargo.
