Daily weather images - NOAA
The DFD in Oberpfaffenhofen receives the weather images from the NOAA satellite series six times per day via EUMETCAST. The satellite orbits are different, so the images cover different ground swaths. Day-time images are produced from the optical bands of the AVHRR sensor, whereas the night-time images are composed of the infrared bands.
On an operational base DFD produces from the ground swath (width 2000km) geo-referenced coverages of the following regions/countries:
