Copernicus (germ.)

The joint Copernicus initiative of the European Union and the European Space Agency aims to establish a European geoinformation market for various environmental, security and economic aspects. To this end, innovative information products and services are to be developed using satellite-based remote sensing data.

TERENO initiative (germ.)

The aim of this initiative is to track and document the consequences of predicted global climate change, land use changes, socio-economic developments and human interventions on terrestrial ecosystems by means of long-term monitoring. The long-term documentation of multi-temporal environmental data at various spatial scales can be used to obtain information on climate change, available water resources and material flows or ecological system changes. In addition, the TERENO initiative aims to provide the necessary scientific basis for the development of socio-economic strategies in order to be able to react promptly to changing living and economic conditions.

NEREUS initiative (germ.)

NEREUS was founded in April 2008 as a Europe-wide network of regions that develop or use space technologies. The NEREUS initiative is dedicated to representing the regional dimension of space policy at the political level, strengthening the role of citizens in the development of European space policy and markets, exchanging information and knowledge, networking and creating strong partnerships, and mobilizing projects and initiatives. As a strong voice of the regions in European space policy, NEREUS aims to improve and increase the participation of citizens and society in European space policy and programs.

GeoMV initiative (germ.)

The main objective of GeoMV is to improve the supply, accessibility, quality and usability of geodata/geoinformation and services in the geoinformation industry in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. This initiative also aims to network the geoinformation industry in order to strengthen the development of the potential of this economic sector at regional level.

JECAM – Joint Experiment for Crop Assessment and Monitoring

The Joint Experiment for Crop Assessment and Monitoring (JECAM) has been initiated “by the GEO Agriculture Monitoring Community of Practice with the intent to enhance international collaboration around agricultural monitoring towards the development of a “systems of systems” to address issues associated with food security and a sustainable and profitable agricultural sector worldwide. The JECAM initiative is developed in the framework of GEO Global Agricultural Monitoring (GEOSS Task AG0703 a) and Agricultural Risk Management (GEOSS Task AG0703 b)” (Background – JECAM). Contact of the JECAM-initiative is Andrew M. Davidson (Contact Us – JECAM). Since 2015, DEMMIN is one of more than 50 test-sites worldwide (Map – JECAM).

AgriSens

Launch of the AgriSens-DEMMIN 4.0-project (lead is GFZ, Daniel Spengler). DEMMIN is one of the test-sites of the project. Participating of the DEMMIN test site in the EXPRESS-project (Lead is the University Leipzig, Ingolf Römer). Both projects are part of the BMEL initiative of the German Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMEL), which aims to promote digitization in agriculture. With approximately 50 million euros in funding, the BMEL will support 14 experimental fields distributed throughout Germany between 2019 and 2022.
