AgriSens DEMMIN 4.0 - Remote sensing technologies for digitization in crop production
In the project "AgriSens DEMMIN - 4.0 Remote Sensing Technologies for Digitization in Crop Production" digital technologies in the field of remote sensing data use for digitization in agriculture are tested. The objectives are practical applications for the use of remote sensing data, i.e. satellite and UAV-supported systems, for concrete questions of crop cultivation, to further and newly develop methods against the background of previous experience and to make this knowledge available to the farmer in particular, but also to any interested party in general in an uncomplicated way.
In the future, geodata could enable agricultural enterprises to further increase their productivity and at the same time protect the environment and biodiversity. The use of these data is being tested in the project "AgriSens DEMMIN 4.0" in digital processes using various application cases with a focus on the area of plant cultivation on the DEMMIN experimental field in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as well as on the permanent test plots of the DLG Plant Cultivation Centre Bernburg-Strenzfeld. The German Remote Sensing Data Centre provides satellite data time series and information layers which form the basis for crop monitoring.
AgriSens DEMMIN 4.0 is funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) within the framework of the "Directive on the Promotion of the Establishment of Experimental Areas for Digitization in Agriculture". The research network is coordinated by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) Potsdam. In addition to the DLR, the Julius-Kühn Institute (JKI) Braunschweig, the German Weather Service (DWD), the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, the Julius Maximilian University Würzburg, and the University of Applied Sciences Neubrandenburg are involved. The agricultural actors are regional farms in the Demmin area in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, as well as partner farms of the participating institutions, which are spread all over Germany.
