Record: 1.35 million visitors

Last week alone over 26,000 visitors made use of the opportunity to see the EOC Earth Sculpture. After a 26 month run the exhibit “The fragile Paradise” finally came to an end this past Sunday: with 1.35 million visitors the most successful exhibition at the Gasometer and the single most successful individual exhibit in Germany 2022/2023.

Already before the exhibit opened, visitors patiently waited in a 200 metre long queue in front of the entrance to the Gasometer. The crowd puller in Europe’s highest exhibition hall at 117.5 metres was the Earth sculpture created by EOC. From thousands of data sets EOC staff created a fifteen-minute animation that brought to life the huge ballon suspended in the Gasometer’s airspace. The stream of visitors was so large during the last few days that the Gasometer had to temporarily close its 7,000 square metre exhibition area because of overcrowding.

The total number of visitors exceeded the last exhibits, “Der Berg ruft” and“ Wunder der Natur,” both of which were likewise realized in collaboration with EOC visualisation specialists. Despite a difficult initial phase under covid pandemic conditions the record set by “Wunder der Natur” could be surpassed.
