European Commission Delegation visits EOC
Philippe Brunet, a director in the Enterprise and Industry Department and responsible for the European space projects Copernicus and Galileo, visited EOC in Oberpfaffenhofen on November 12, 2014 with a delegation from the European Commission.
The delegation was received by DLR executive board member Dr Gruppe, DFD director Prof. Dech, and IMF director Prof. Bamler. During a visit of several hours they were informed about the activities at EOC, with a focus on the Copernicus programmme. Mr Brunet was particularly interested in the EOC’s role in the Copernicus Core Ground Segment and the Copernicus Processing and Archiving Center. He welcomed the EOC initiatives to achieve easier access to the Copernicus data from the Sentinel satellites for near-real-time applications and to prepare for managing the impending flood of data.
The visitors were accompanied by Dr Schneyer of the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology. He stressed Bavaria’s involvement in helping to ensure the success of the Copernicus programme and that Copernicus data is acquired, processed and put to use by Bavarian institutions, in cooperation with national and European partners.
