Test position M11.1 is equipped with a hydrogen-oxygen air heater to simulate scram and ramjet conditions. The air heater generates a mass flow of up to 5 kilograms per second of hot air at a total temperature of 1500 Kelvin. Investigations into the film cooling of rocket engines are currently being carried out at M11.1 together with the European Space Agency ESA, ArianeGroup and the VKI.
