High-Altitude Simulation Test Bench P4
The P4 high-altitude simulation test facility is the only facility in Europe where cryogenic and storable upper stage engines can be tested under ground and vacuum conditions.
The Ariane 6 upper stage engine Vinci is assembled by ArianeGroup in Lampoldshausen, integrated on the high-altitude simulation test stand P4.1 and prepared for flight acceptance. At the same time, the P4.1 test stand is being prepared for the tests. The DLR Institute of Space Propulsion is responsible for carrying out the test campaign. By optimizing the production and integration processes, up to 15 Vinci flight acceptances per year will be possible.
