Simulation and calculation cluster

High-performance computing cluster

The Institute uses several nodes of the CASE2 cluster for component and overall vehicle crash simulation. Various overall vehicle crash simulations can be executed simultaneously within a few hours with its help.

Individual institutes' load peaks can be compensated through shared use of the cluster with other institutes, and computing power can be made available as needed.

The Institute uses a special server to compute large models statically and to conduct topology optimisation on entire car bodies. This server possesses more memory as well as the currently fastest SSD mass storage and accesses up to 18 cores for the computation.

Software:

  • LSDyna (dynamic calculation),
  • MSC Nastran (static calculation),
  • Altair Optistruct (topology optimisation).
