Open House 2012

On 21 October 2012, DLR Oberpfaffenhofen again opened its doors to allow enthusiastic fans of aeronautics and space activities a look behind the scenes. Under the slogan “Viewing Earth” some 12,000 visitors informed themselves about current research. At EOC the visitors could undertake a virtual 3D climb up K2 or learn about the flying Wildlife Finder and even pilot it themselves. They could also discover how orbiting satellites can assist people down on the ground, for example, by warning them about tsunami or bad air quality, or making it possible for them to better manage scarce environmental resources. EOC’s National Remote Sensing Data Archive was also very popular.
