Laser makes the air flow visible
DLR researchers adjust the laser. This makes the airflow visible.

Measurement station in the cabin of the DLR ATRA research aircraft
The laser measurement system provides a three-dimensional visualisation of the airflow over the wing. The laser and the two cameras, which are mounted behind windows in the cabin, can be seen in the background.
At the Institute of Aerodynamics and Flow Technology, we research new methods and technologies in aerodynamics and flow technology for aerospace, energy and transport. To this end, we develop and utilise numerical methods, wind tunnel experiments and flight tests.
We therefore offer you the opportunity to work on exciting projects, gain further training and gain valuable experience in many of the topics we cover.
Would you like to become part of our team? Then apply now!
You can find open PhD positions and interesting topics for student research projects and dissertations at our sites in Braunschweig and Göttingen on the DLR careers portal.
We look forward to hearing from you!
