Transport Markets and Mobility Services Department
The Transport Markets and Mobility Services department focuses on the analysis, development and evaluation of innovative transport services for people and goods as well as the corresponding business models. We analyse the system of people, vehicles, vehicle deployment and route planning (for example timetables) as well as transfer and reloading points.
In order to design such services, we first analyse the mobility needs of people and the transport requirements of (logistics) companies using market research methods such as surveys and data analysis. Based on the findings, we develop innovative, sustainable mobility and logistics concepts using various statistical, modelling, optimisation and simulation methods. To ensure that new concepts can establish themselves on the market, we develop action-oriented transport planning measures and innovative market designs. We also consider their market launch and market acceptance, as well as the participating institutions.
In this way, we help transport companies to bring sustainable mobility and transport solutions to the market. We provide transport and economic policy-makers with information on how markets can be designed so that innovative and sustainable transport services can be developed and established. Our research services range from transfer-oriented projects with industry to policy advice with application-oriented projects.
