The growing demand for space-based services requires innovative ideas for more resilient satellite system architectures, as our satellite systems are now considered critical infrastructure which require special protection. This also includes recognising impending threats as early as possible and being able to react to them quickly.

To this end, we at the RSC³ are developing concepts and simulation tools to record the space situation. The expansion of civilian infrastructures for space surveillance, the growing availability of freely accessible databases and the constant improvement of algorithms for analysing digitised information offer completely new opportunities for this challenge. In particular, the addition of free data sets to military space reconnaissance, their evaluation to derive new information of operational interest and an integrative, centralised overlay of this information holds great potential for the design of an expanded space situation picture. The RSC³ works closely with the DLR institutes and facilities, as well as commercial enterprises to realise this potential.
