A data services ecosystem and future mobility applications

Gaia-X 4 Future Mobility

Gaia-X 4 Future Mobility
The Gaia-X 4 Future Mobility project family consists of six individual projects and is intended to pioneer the digital transformation of mobility systems in the automotive sector.

The Gaia-X 4 Future Mobility project family aims to drive the digital transformation of the mobility system. It includes six projects: Gaia-X 4 AI, Gaia-X 4 AMS, Gaia-X 4 ROMS, Gaia-X 4 PLC-AAD, Gaia-X 4 moveID and Gaia-X 4 AGEDA. As part of the project, applications and services are being developed for manufacturing and operations, as well as for the broader mobility system, such as parking space management and road condition monitoring. The goal is to establish a market foundation for new digitally driven services while delivering practical, scalable solutions for environmentally friendly and efficient mobility and logistics. Around 80 companies and research institutions are collaborating within six consortia to develop more than 20 applications under Gaia-X 4 Future Mobility.

The Gaia-X 4 Future Mobility family is also developing Base-X, a new and fundamentally open digital foundation for system innovations across all of the projects. Base-X optimises the use and exchange of data, paving the way for a new, networked, intelligent and sustainable mobility system. The platform breaks down data silos and creates a secure, scalable and future-proof interoperable infrastructure. A key focus here is on the trustworthiness and openness of the system. The potential of Base-X has already been demonstrated in concrete pilot projects, with cities such as Hamburg, Wolfsburg, and Daegu in South Korea already using it. This international collaboration highlights not only the scalability of the platform but also its potential to set global standards. There are now plans to systematically expand the pilot projects and integrate additional international partners. The project aims to foster broad acceptance and establish efficient mobility solutions that can fundamentally improve the way people and goods are transported.

The Institute for AI Safety and Security is responsible for the coordination, communication and networking activities of the project family, both internally and externally. This includes the content-based, technical and strategic networking of the six projects, as well as representing the project family to the public. In addition to the project applications, the overarching and scalable project outcome, Base-X, is being strengthened and further developed. The Institute for AI Safety and Security will also ensure close collaboration with other initiatives, projects and activities such as Catena-X, Transfer-X and the Mobility Data Space. This will help to leverage synergies and promote the integration of solutions across various projects.
