Test cell P8.1 & P8.2
The P8 focusses on the investigation of engine cycles and propulsion systems, the optical analysis of combustion processes and the verification of simulation data. Innovative designs and manufacturing processes are also tested in development trials and components of rocket propulsion systems are qualified on a full-scale. The fast and precise mass flow control at operating pressures of up to 360 bar is unique in Europe, particularly for the efficient characterisation of components in the shortest possible test durations. Other test fields in the development of engine and test bench components include mechanically or electrically operated turbopumps, noise dampers in the operation of rocket engines and system components on rocket stages.
