During an official ceremony in Lampoldshausen on the 27th of September 2024 the director of the German Aerospace Centre’s Institute of Space Propulsion (DLR), Stefan Schlechtriem, and the director of ESA’s European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC), Dietmar Pilz, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions. The Memorandum of Understanding shall foster the cooperation between the two entities in the areas of flight vehicle engineering, propulsion, and fluid dynamics. Joint organisation of courses, conferences, workshops, seminars, and round tables is planned and the access of the European Space Agency to the propulsion test facilities of the Institute of Space Propulsion has been simplified. The implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding started immediately after the signature of the two directors.
