In autumn 2024, the 15th summit of the International Forum for Aviation Research (IFAR) took place in Singapore. More than 60 participants from 18 international aviation research institutions came together to discuss the topics of sustainable aviation and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO). The event was organised by the Singapore Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR).

Markus Fischer, Divisional Board Member for Aeronautics at the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR), presented DLR's diverse research activities and collaborations with other IFAR members. He emphasised the goal of expanding cooperation and attracting additional partners who share DLR's strategic vision of climate-compatible aviation. One of the key outcomes of the summit was the decision to set up a new working group on MRO, led by the DLR Institute of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul. The next IFAR summit will be held in Austria in 2025.
