Astronauts can also be part of the network. The DLR Institute of Communications and Navigation has tested how sensors, payload boxes and rovers connect within a swarm network in the LUNA hall. The system determines precise positions for all participants, even as they move. During the experiments, the regolith simulant, or 'Moon dust', is swirled up.
