Structures and Mechanisms
The development of structures and mechanisms for space vehicles and components has already been comprehensively supervised by the Mechanics and Thermal Systems Department in many projects.
The department can draw on a wide range of expertise. The processing of the structure and mechanism design is carried out holistically from the construction using CAD software to the numerical analysis using FEM through to the hardware and its qualification in the department's own facilities for tests under space conditions.
The foundation for a reliable and easy design can be laid as early as phase 0/A through consulting, design and calculation expertise. However, the department also regularly assumes responsibility for the realization and qualification of mechanisms and structures in the subsequent phases of a project. In addition to self-developed mechanisms for special applications, commercial mechanisms are also used.
