DLR Central Archive
Preserving history, telling stories, building bridges – the DLR Central Archive safeguards the past, the present and ideas for the future.
The Central Archive of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) documents DLR's historical information and preserves it for the future. Its main task is to store, evaluate and catalogue the documents created by DLR and its predecessor organisations and to make them available to the scientific community and the interested public.
The Central Archive records date back to the late 19th century. The documentation focuses on the period after 1969, when the modern DLR was formed by the merger of the German Aeronautics Research Institute (Deutsch Versuchsanstalt für Luftfahrt; DVL), the Aerodynamics Research Institute (Aerodynamischen Versuchsanstalt; AVA) and the German Aeronautical Research Institute (Deutsche Forschungsanstalt für Luftfahrt; DFL).
The online Archive catalog is available for extensive research in our records.
