The operation of the test site with its test facilities is subject to the statutory Hazardous Incident Ordinance. This experience and expertise enables additional cooperation with external and internal partners, for example in the area of reactive space or the use of drones for safety monitoring.
The DLR Institute also has expertise in the fields of air-breathing scramjet propulsion technologies and gel propulsion. Together with institutional and industrial partners, the technological maturity of hypersonic rockets and aircraft is being increased with regard to combustion processes and the materials used. These competencies enable the institute to advise political decision-makers.
