Since 2011, the German Aerospace Center (DLR) has organised an annual DLR_Summer_School on the topic of 'Space Propulsion' at its Lampoldshausen site. The ten-day seminar serves to promote young scientists in the field of aerospace technology.

The DLR Institute of Space Propulsion also offers interesting and application-related research and development work for postdocs, doctoral students, master's and bachelor's students and interns from the various research areas. Job vacancies at all DLR facilities, offers for student research projects and dissertations, as well as open doctoral positions can be found in the DLR job market.

Funding programs for doctoral candidates

Doctoral students are supervised and supported at a high level in the DLR institutes. In addition, DLR has a very special offer for its approximately 800 doctoral candidates: the DLR_Graduate_Program is a high-quality qualification and support program designed specifically for doctoral candidates at DLR. The three-year voluntary program teaches doctoral students key interdisciplinary skills – from project management, scientific publishing and presentation skills to third-party funding acquisition and other important core competencies. The knowledge and skills can be utilised efficiently during the doctoral phase and should also help with further career planning.

The doctoral phase can be followed by further career steps such as leading junior research groups at DLR institutes or postings abroad. Mentoring programmes and talent development measures are also offered at DLR.

DLR-DAAD scholarships

Young scientists from abroad can apply for scholarships at DLR. The German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst; DAAD) are seeking to attract more foreign scientists to Germany. To this end, the two organizations have launched the joint scholarship program "DLR-DAAD Research Fellowships".

DLR_Graduate_Program

The fact that the doctoral opportunities at DLR are excellent is not only due to the exciting research topics and the dedicated professional supervision. The DLR_Graduate_Program is open to all DLR doctoral students who wish to gain further professional qualifications.
