Future vision of cross-modal street design

An animated street scene is depicted in an urban environment. Classic cars, buses and futuristic DLR vehicle concepts are travelling on the road. On both sides of the road are strips of grass followed by wide cycle paths along which a large number of bicycles, cargo bikes and e-scooters are travelling. Along the two outer edges of the cycle paths are busy footpaths, which provide staircase and lift access to a signposted underground S-Bahn and underground station. In addition, a zebra crossing and a green wooden footbridge with a connection to the suburban/underground lift and a local restaurant provide options for crossing the road.

A sustainable and fair roadscape offers an attractive, demand-orientated and interconnected division of space between modes of transport, green and recreational areas and commercial activities.
