Administration

Administration is the backbone of our organisation. It ensures that all processes run smoothly and provides the best possible support. It also secures the administrative transfer of know-how to the research departments and acts as an interface to DLR's central departments.

The following areas are at the centre of its activities:

Controlling

Controlling supports strategic and operational planning, monitors adherence to the budget and ensures transparent reporting. Through precise analysis and management of resources, we create the basis for efficient project implementation and further development of the institute.

Research Management

Today's environment is particularly challenging for scientific activity.

Several factors are involved:

To achieve scientific excellence, you need to compete successfully for funding in a highly competitive environment and navigate complex legal and funding frameworks. At the same time, there are increasing demands to communicate research results to the public and to transfer them into commercial practice. In addition, research activities are often only possible through the use of complex research infrastructures, so-called large-scale facilities. They are planned and built under institutional responsibility and operated on a sustainable basis.

The task of research management is therefore to accompany and support researchers through administrative services and to ensure the best possible exploitation of research results. In order to achieve this goal, existing administrative processes are being interpreted throughout the institute and new processes are being implemented in line with the institute's needs. The aim is to create optimal conditions for all stakeholders - from the institute's management to the researchers - to achieve the institute's strategic and scientific goals.

In research management, we also ensure that DLR's overarching tasks and goals are implemented and pursued in processes at the institute level.

Information Technology

Our IT team provides the appropriate infrastructure to enable our work processes. From the provision of hardware and software to the provision of networks, the maintenance of the IT research infrastructure and the support of complex IT projects, we guarantee a high-performance and secure IT environment.

Institute Communication

Institute Communications is responsible for internal and external communications. We strengthen our profile with clear and targeted messages and ensure an active dialogue with our cooperation partners, stakeholders and staff. We also provide professional support for the Institute's events.

Human Resources Management

Our Human Resources Management is the interface between the research departments and the central HR departments. It ensures smooth cooperation, efficient processes and optimal support for our employees. Through targeted support and strategic planning, we create the basis for innovative research and sustainable personnel development.

Quality Management

Quality management emphasises the importance of ensuring high standards in all our processes.

Through regular audits and optimisation measures, we promote continuous improvement, which is reflected in the quality of our research and services.

In addition, we coordinate overarching construction measures and take into account the safety aspects of our research operations.

Interface to DLR Headquarters:

Contract Management

Due to the high proportion of third-party funding, a dedicated contract management team works closely with us on an ongoing basis to ensure that projects are delivered efficiently. Precise planning, reliable quality and transparent communication play a central role. In particular, the close cooperation between Research Management and Controlling ensures that funds are used efficiently and that projects are completed on time and to the highest quality.
