Representation of turbulence on an aircraft wing
This image shows an instantaneous snapshot from the Large Eddy Simulation (LES) of the T106D low-pressure turbine cascade with a Reynolds number of 200,000, under the influence of transient, turbulent wakes. The LES was carried out using the higher-order discontinuous Galerkin method from TRACE and the visualisation was realised using the Paraview/Catalyst prototype. The turbulent scales of the instantaneous flow field are shown via isosurfaces of Q-criterion (Q=1E8 1/s2).
