The ship model shows the energy flows on board a ship. Green stands for sustainably produced fuels, which are channelled into the fuel cell via a reformer. The electricity provided by the fuel cell is labelled yellow and is fed into the rest of the ship via the energy management system. The energy management system supplies the engine in particular, which is the main consumer. This model shows a modern RoPax ferry that also has passengers on board. Passenger cabins are air-conditioned. Cooling is visualised by the blue currents. It is also possible to heat the cabin.

The energy systems on ships supply the various areas and applications on board. The systems to be developed based on new converters and renewable storage media will significantly change the structure and space requirements in ships. All types of ships, from tankers and freighters to cruise ships, will be addressed.
