SOFIA Factsheet

NASA and DLR agreed to jointly develop a new observatory called SOFIA (Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy). The cooperation and responsibilities between NASA and DLR have been mutually agreed in a Memorandum of Understanding stating the distribution of tasks and responsibilities during the development and the operations phase.
