The Mars rover Perseverance in the Jezero crater
The Perseverance rover has been drilling samples from various rocks in the Jezero crater, which was once home to a river-fed lake, since September 2021. In the 2030s, a mission will collect the 38 samples from Mars and bring them back to Earth.
