The countdown to the Germany-wide Space Day has begun. On 28 and 29 March 2025, the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) will take space enthusiasts on an inspiring journey of space exploration in Berlin, Bonn and Cologne. Scientists will share the challenges and insights of their work, while astronauts will talk about the awe-inspiring experience of viewing 'spaceship Earth' from above. Tickets for the Cologne event have already been allocated, but free tickets for the events in Berlin and Bonn are now available.

Berlin – kick-off at Futurium

The opening event will take place on Friday, 28 March 2025, at Futurium in Berlin. Together with prominent guests, discussions will explore why spaceflight is crucial for our future and what goals Germany and the European Space Agency (ESA) are pursuing. Six 'space slammers' will each passionately make the case for a different reason to support the future of spaceflight. This will be followed by a group discussion on how to bring these goals together. The event will also celebrate a milestone: ESA's 50th anniversary. Free registration for the Berlin event is now open.

Bonn – German Space Agency at DLR opens its doors

On 29 March 2025, the German Space Agency at DLR in Bonn-Oberkassel will welcome visitors of all ages. With the SPACEBUZZ ONE, guests can take a virtual flight around Earth, to the International Space Station ISS and even to the Moon. A large exhibition will take visitors to the depths of space, and a wide range of talks will cover fascinating topics including the new Ariane 6 rocket, lunar and Martian exploration and quantum technology, and the programme will be rounded off with planetary defence efforts to protect ourselves from against asteroid impact. Free registration for the Bonn event is now open.

Cologne – DLR's main Space Day event

The Cologne Space Day will take place near the city centre on 28 March 2025. For one day, an old postal service parcel centre will transform into a space station. On multiple levels, the DLR_School_Labs will offer an extensive hands-on programme for children. Talks, exhibitions and interactive exhibits will provide insights into a world that surrounds us yet still feels unfamiliar. Visitors will discover how robots are used to explore distant planets, how astronauts prepare for their missions, how spaceflight benefits our daily lives, and what we know – and still hope to learn – about distant planets. For the adventurous, there’s a chance to test your space fitness in an aerotrim or a 360-degree simulator.

The ESA Astronaut Centre will also take part, and the Space Shop by Sozialwerk DLR e.V. will be on site with DLR and space-themed clothing and merchandise.

All tickets for this event have already been allocated.

Widespread participation across Germany

Space Day is organised by the German Space Agency at DLR. On 28 and 29 March 2025, space-related institutions across Germany will open their doors and share their exciting work. More than 80 companies, universities, museums, planetariums and research institutions are participating.
