'Trojans' and 'Greeks' in Jupiter's orbit
Jupiter, the largest planet in the Solar System, is accompanied by two groups of trojan asteroids, which circle the Sun in the same orbit as Jupiter. These objects have very dark, matte, and slightly reddish surfaces. This artist's impression shows how the asteroids in the 'Greek camp' precede the gas giant – 140,000 kilometres in diameter – and those in the 'Trojan camp' follow behind.
