Virtual Remote Tower
The Virtual Remote Tower concept developed by DLR enables remote airport monitoring using virtual reality (VR). The virtual tower workstation is visualised via a VR headset, including a panoramic view of the airfield. Air traffic controllers can communicate with other air traffic control services, operate airport systems or process electronic flight strips, just as they would in a conventional tower.
