This artist's impression depicts NASA's Europa Clipper spacecraft, which is scheduled to launch in October 2024 and reach the Jupiter system in 2030. Once there, the spacecraft will go into orbit around Jupiter to conduct a detailed study of its Europa moon until 2034. Europa is a world that provides compelling evidence of a liquid water ocean beneath its icy crust, where conditions could be favourable for life. The nominal mission involves 49 flybys of Europa from an altitude of 25 to 2700 kilometres above its surface. DLR is sci-entifically involved in the Europa Clipper mission.
