The TerraSAR-X satellite took the image of the FAST telescope shown here on 11 March 2023 in high-resolution staring spotlight mode. The six towers and the wire ropes holding the receiver platform above the mirror can be seen very clearly. The mirror itself can only be guessed at as a black hole, as its metallic surface reflects the obliquely incident radar signals from the satellite in the opposite direction away from the satellite instead of back to it.
