Professor Anke Kaysser-Pyzalla appointed as new Chair of the DLR Executive Board
The current president of Technische Universität Braunschweig, Professor Anke Kaysser-Pyzalla, has been appointed to the most senior position at the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR). On 18 March 2020, the DLR Senate unanimously selected the eminent engineer and materials scientist as the new Chair of the DLR Executive Board. Professor Kaysser-Pyzalla will take up the post on 1 October 2020, succeeding Professor Pascale Ehrenfreund, whose term of office is ending after five successful years.
Peter Altmaier, German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy said: “DLR is facing enormous technological and socio-political challenges, such as climate protection. Anke Kaysser-Pyzalla has extensive experience as a leader in a number of research institutions. She is therefore the right person to master this task and thus strengthen Germany as a location for scientific research and industry.” Altmaier also thanked Professor Ehrenfreund for her work: “DLR has grown enormously in recent years. In particular, Pascale Ehrenfreund has been instrumental in the establishment of new institutes. For this I thank her very much.”
