Research into new fuels: combustion researcher Dominik Schuler at a shock tube system in the DLR Institute of Combustion Technology, an ideal test facility for generating high temperatures and pressures such as those which occur in aircraft gas turbines under full load (at take-off for example). The researchers aim to optimise the combustion process with regard to pollutant emissions and reliability.
