Underground 'ice reservoirs' in the Cabeus, Shoemaker and Faustini craters at the Moon’s south pole
In 2009, the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter discovered water on the Moon, or, to be precise, it found evidence of hydroxyl ions in minerals, thereby confirming observations made by India’s Chandrayaan-1 space probe of the same year. The photo shows underground “ice reservoirs” in the Cabeus, Shoemaker and Faustini craters at the Moon’s south pole.
